(Reprinted from The Waterways Journal) RedFish Barge & Fleeting LLC, formerly known as Redfish Bay Terminal, is repositioning itself to better serve the booming Corpus Christi, Texas, area with updated facilities and new services.
The fleet is at Mile 535.5 of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in an area referred to as Fulton Cut, 16.5 nautical miles from the Port of Corpus Christi.
The site has a rich history having been used for oil storage, as Gulf Copper’s first local base of operations, and as a high-profile Navy facility home to minesweepers. The property is being leased from Bay Ltd.
One of the main advantages of the location is environmental. If there were ever to be an environmental incident, a boom could be stretched across the entry to the harbor and we could have it contained very quickly. The site is also in a low-density area, with its closest neighbor being Gulf Marine Fabricators.
Redfish has 2,100 feet of bulkhead and capacity for up to 20 barges at a time. Rock barges and open hoppers regularly call on the harbor, but the majority served are tank barges.
There will be many added services offered onsite as well, including cleaning and other environmental services through an arrangement with its tenant, Nature Environmental and Marine Services. Fresh water is now available and there are plans to offer fuel in the near future. Topside repairs are available via a partnership with Gulf Copper.
Redfish selected E-Squared Marine services to operate the fleet.
